Italie (FS) Double-deck EMU Italy IT After successfull push-pull trains with double-deck coaches derivated from the french VB2N, Trenitalia decided to order double-deck EMU for high capacity lines, with now 3 generations. ALe 426/506 TAF TAF for "Treni Alta Frequentazione" (high capacity trains). 4 bodies trains with fixed compositions : 2 power cars at the ends with two middle trailers : ALe 426 (power unit with access for handicaped people) + 2 Le 736 (middle trailers) + ALe 506 (power unit). 2nd class only. Design by Pininfarina. Similar trains were delivered to FNM (now Trenord). One batch of 99 trains built between 1999 and 2004 : Treno 01 to 99 (the number of the ALe 426 and ALe 506 are the same as the trains').
