The S-Bahn Berlin network is electrified in 750 V DC with 3rd rail (like S-Bahn Hamburg). This network was initialy operated by the DR-east in both Berlin sides. In the middle of the eighties, the BVG overtook the west side network. Now, S-Bahn Berlin is a subsidiary of the DB AG.
